Narrative Practice Workshop: Find Meanings in Dialogue

Speaker: Mr. William Chiu, Dr. Chitat Chan

Mr. William Chiu is a Certified Counselor at Professional Counselling Association Hong Kong and a guest lecturer at Bethel Bible Seminary.  Mr. Chiu graduated with Master of Arts in Guidance & Counselling at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and has been practicing Narrative Therapy since the beginning of his counselling practice. Mr. Chiu has hosted regular workshops and training sessions related to Narrative therapy.

Dr. Chitat Chan is the Principal Investigator of Human Libraries Hub project and Assistant Professor of Department of Applied Social Sciences at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests focus on identity, storytelling/narrative, and media. 

The workshop will:

  • Introduce the basic concepts of Narrative Therapy
  • Point out the important conversation strategies of Narrative Therapy, and implement to interview and daily conversation
  • Focus on “Outsider Witness Practice” and “Scaffolding Conversation”
  • Use real-life examples to explain as to facilitate understanding and practice

Basic steps and remarks:

  1. Enroll online
  2. Fill out the pre-event questionnaire 
  3. Attend the workshop
  4. Fill out the post-event questionnaire

Remarks:

  1. Workshop participants will be invited to contribute and apply their learning from the workshop to part of the interview work of Human Libraries Hub.
  2. Enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis, based on website enrollment record.
